Despite efforts to streamline research ethics, governance and information governance there have been widespread concerns that the arrangements are unwieldy, duplicative, and bureaucratic and that they result in delays and increased costs for research and may even deter or prevent research taking place.
In May 2021 HSR UK undertook a survey of our member organisations and wider HSR community, asking what worked well about the current system and what could be improved. This report presents analysis of more than 250 responses to our survey, along with recommendations for how the research system can work better for all.
