Cat Chatfield is the Director of HSR UK, based at the Nuffield Trust in London.
Prior to joining HSR UK in June 2022, Cat was the Head of Education at The BMJ, leading commissioning and production of all education content in the journal. Cat started at The BMJ as their quality improvement editor, leading the creation of a series of articles on the science of improvement and the translation of research into practice which were in collaboration with the Health Foundation and to which a number of HSR UK board members and others contributed. She led The BMJ's work to support clinician wellbeing during the pandemic, including co-hosting The BMJ's wellbeing podcast, and sits on the International Programme Advisory Committee for the International Forum in Quality and Safety in Healthcare.
Cat was the founder Research Integrity Editor, managing research ethics issues across The BMJ and BMJ Journals portfolio. She trained as a doctor in Brighton and London, was a Darzi clinical leadership fellow, and practised as a GP before moving to work at the BMJ.
