Peter originally did a psychology degree, before completing a PhD in general practice research at St George’s Hospital in London before making the move to health services research at the University of Manchester in 1990 as part of the National Primary Care Research and Development Centre.
He works in various parts of the NIHR infrastructure in Greater Manchester – the NIHR School for Primary Care Research, NIHR Applied Research Collaboration, as well as the REVAL rapid evaluation centre and the Older People and Frailty Policy Research Unit. Peter is speciality lead for health services research for the Clinical Research Network locally and nationally, and an NIHR Senior Investigator. He has special interests in research methods and research delivery, long-term conditions and multimorbidity, and mental health.
