Alicia O’Cathain is Professor of Health Services Research at the School of Health and Related Research at the University of Sheffield, UK. She leads research on emergency and urgent care, evaluation of new health services, the development and evaluation of complex interventions for chronic conditions, and methodology. Her emergency and urgent care research has focused on understanding demand, evaluation of new services (e.g. NHS 111), and explaining variation in practice (e.g. emergency admissions and ambulance non-conveyance).
