There is an increasing focus on health services research in the global health research field, and in the last few years a substantial investment of Official Development Assistance (ODA) funding from the UK government has been directed to the global health research programme organised by NIHR which directly addresses the diverse health needs of people in low and middle income countries (LMICs) and invests in applied health research relevant to the unmet needs of LMIC communities, health system priorities and the evolving global burden of disease. This plenary will explore how the global health research agenda is shaped by a range of government and international funders and stakeholders, and how UK researchers can get involved in research in this field.
