Chiara Dall'Ora

Senior Research Fellow at NIHR CLAHRC Wessex at the University of Southampton

Chiara Dall'Ora’s work focuses on the organisation of the nursing workforce, particularly on shift patterns and the impact these have on nurse and patient outcomes. She works as part of a team with unique expertise in extracting and using large workforce and patient routinely collected data. She has also worked on the largest nurse survey ever conducted in Europe – the RN4CAST study. Her doctoral study was the first to use routinely collected data to find an association between 12-hour shifts and nurses’ sickness absence in acute care hospitals, and her ongoing research is expanding this work into mental health and community settings.
