HSRUK Symposium 2017 – Call for Abstracts

The Health Services Research UK (HSRUK) Symposium presents the leading edge of UK and International health services research in a multidisciplinary programme that includes research presentations and posters, plenaries from research and service leaders, and commissioned themes. It is the forum to be at for sharing knowledge on applied health research.

The Symposium welcomes abstracts on all aspects of health services and policy research. We are inviting abstracts on the following themes:

Evidence Synthesis for Policy Makers Seminar – Save the date!
6 June 2017
Woburn House, London WC1H 9HQ

The seminar is being organised by HSRUK, Health Services and Delivery Research (HS&DR), and the NIHR Dissemination Centre. It will explore how research can, and is used by policy makers in making decisions about healthcare.

The half day meeting will set the scene for this in the current environment, examples of research informing decision making, and discussions about strategies for researchers using these examples.

Call for papers: Health Studies User Conference 2017

The UK Data Service invites users of quantitative studies from the UK Data Service for health-related research, such as the Health Survey for England, Scottish Health Survey, National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyle, Psychiatric Morbidity Surveys, Understanding Society, Birth Cohort Studies
 
The UK Data Service are looking for submissions for the Health Studies User Conference 2017.
 
This free conference will be held on Wednesday 12 July at the Royal Statistical Society in London. The programme will contain a mixture of papers from data producers and researchers who have used the data.
 
Take a look at the Health Surveys User Conference 2016 and at the event's Storify.
 
Please send offers of a paper, including an abstract of no more than 300 words, to [email protected] by Monday 20 March.
 
A detailed programme of presentations will be provided prior to the conference.

Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE) Course - Save the date!

Helth Economics Research Unit at The University of Aberdeen

The Health Economics Research Unit (HERU) will be holding another 3 day Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE) Course at the Jury’s Inn, Aberdeen. The course will take place between Wednesday 15th and Friday 17th November.

Mixed Methods in Health Research

24 - 28 April 2017
University of Oxford

This module will introduce students to the nature and design of mixed methods research. This module assumes students will have some experience in either qualitative or quantitative methodologies, as the focus will be on practical ways to combine the two to develop a variety of mixed methods studies.

Statistics for Clinical Trials

03 - 07 July 2017
University of Oxford

This course in practical statistics for clinical trials covers protocol development and statistical analysis planning, statistical methods for testing for differences and estimating effect sizes, and the presentation and interpretation of results. 

The primary focus of this course is to provide an understanding of the key statistical components required when conducting randomised clinical trials in accordance to the ICH E9 guideline, and for individuals to be able to demonstrate competencies in these components and apply them to clinical trials.

The London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS DTP) are now inviting applications to apply for an ESRC-funded three-year doctoral collaborative (CASE) studentship in collaboration with The Health Innovation Network South London, Age UK Lambeth and Age UK Lewisham & Southwark to begin in October 2017.

The PhD study is entitled ‘Towards a critical understanding of the emergence, development and implementation of integrated care pathways for frail, older people’ and is currently being advertised on the LISS DTP website.
