The Wellcome-funded Border Crossings project on the role of charity and voluntarism in the post-war NHS are looking to make  several appointments to the team and currently two postdoctoral positions are available at the University of Birmingham.

The postholders will work with John Mohan (Third Sector Research Centre, University of Birmingham) on studies of: charitable providers of institutional health care that were not taken into public ownership in 1948; organisations that have subsequently transferred back out of the NHS into voluntary control; fundraising to support NHS institutions. The posts are available for up to 30 months full-time; we are open to some flexibility about working arrangements. More details about the programme of work are available at https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/research/tsrc/research/border-crossings.aspx

Across the Border Crossings project we are trying to build a team comprising a broad range of expertise and applications are therefore welcome from candidates with a range of disciplinary backgrounds (e.g.   social policy, sociology, health policy, non-profit and voluntary sector research, public health, organisation studies, history, and politics).
