The University of Exeter is looking for an experienced health services researcher (senior lecturer or higher grade), preferably with experience of developing and/or running university courses, to help make their successful multi-disciplinary and methods-focussed MSc course even better!

The external examiner helps assure and improve the quality of this MSc, by:
- Receiving information about the course and assessments, including information about assignments set and examples of student work.
- Making observations and recommendations about the appropriateness of the level of work compared with other settings, and about the strengths and weaknesses of the programme as they see it.(This is done via the formal reporting system (e.g. EE’s report, and at the annual progress and approval meeting) but also through dialogue with the Programme Lead).
- Providing a useful source of advice and support for Programme Leads (e.g. when they have important decisions to make, such as in relation to proposed changes in the programme structure or content, or in relation to specific student circumstances).
The external examiner for this course over the past 4 years estimated that the role required approximately 2 days of his time, especially around the time of the annual ‘PAPAC’ meeting.
