The HRB is the lead funder of health research in Ireland, with an annual budget of approximately €50m pa. The Director of Research Strategy and Funding has overall responsibility for this aspect of the HRB’s work, providing leadership and direction to the HRB in the areas of research funding, policy and evaluation.

The Director of RSF has line management responsibility for the Head of Pre-Award, Head of Post Award & Evaluation, and the Secretariat supporting the Health Regulations Consent Declaration Committee. The Director works closely with other national funding agencies to coordinate health research activities at national level and ensure that the interests of health are reflected in national research strategies. The Director also provides leadership in relation to the HRB’s engagement with international and EU funding partnerships.
