East Midlands collaboration with NHS Trusts and UK start-ups to optimise NHS breast screening capacity
The East Midlands Radiology Consortium (emrad) is an alliance of seven NHS Trusts who share diagnostic imaging for the purposes of enhancing patient care and supporting operational capacity. The consortium is leading a nationally funded 18-month project to develop and test Artificial Intelligence (AI) software within Breast Screening Services in the region, partnering with two UK start-ups to optimise NHS breast screening capacity.
The project runs until April 2020. When the AI software has been proven, emrad plans to make it available throughout NHS Trusts in the East Midlands and the wider NHS to use in their breast screening services.
Simon Harris, is the project manager responsible for implementing and supporting the deployment of AI and Machine Learning tools across the consortium, and will talk about the project at HSRUK's upcoming Spring seminar "New technologies in health and care: the research and evaluation challenge".
