Kieran Walshe is Professor of Health Policy and Management at the University of Manchester, with over 40 years’ experience in health policy, management and health services research. His work focuses on quality and performance in healthcare, regulation and governance of public services, and the use of evidence in policy and practice. He has led major research programmes funded by UK and international agencies and has advised governments and public bodies in the UK and internationally.
Kieran served as Chair of Health Services Research UK from 2019 to 2024 and continues as a Trustee. He was also Director of Health and Care Research Wales (2019–2024) and has held a range of senior roles across academia, the NHS and national research programmes.
