NIHR supports staff in promoting research across the NHS

The NIHR has launched a new package of resources aimed at supporting existing NIHR staff to encourage non-research clinical and care staff, to be more aware of research taking place and support more patients to get involved in research opportunities.

The new package, hosted on the NIHR website, has been launched in direct response to feedback received from a survey to NIHR CRN frontline staff, including research nurses. The survey was designed to find out how the NIHR could better support its funded staff in establishing and delivering more research, as well as encouraging more clinical and care staff to get involved with research opportunities. The results showed there was a need to strengthen the support available to staff and this has resulted in new materials being developed as well as better promotion of existing materials designed to support staff on the frontline.

The package includes case studies which explore initiatives that have successfully engaged staff and patients in research and a toolkit which provides resources and materials to help engage a range of colleagues in health research.
