Ashra Khanom

Dr Ashra Khanom is a Public Health Researcher at Public Health Wales and maintains an active academic role with Swansea University, contributing to collaborative research and patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) initiatives.

Her work focuses on reducing health inequalities through prevention and early intervention, with particular emphasis on improving equitable access to healthcare for underserved and ethnically diverse populations. She has expertise in linked health data, co-produced research and cross-sector partnership working.

Ashra leads the NIHR-funded BE SURE study (HS&DR), examining disparities in emergency care use across ethnic groups, and has led community-based interventions to improve engagement with preventive care.

She brings expertise in applied health services research, equity-focused approaches and meaningful public involvement to the HSR UK Board.
