"FellowsConnect" seeks to capture and build value from the phenomenal knowledge and large (circa 1,500) disconnected resource of UK wide Fellows.
The Health Foundation, NHS Education for Scotland, NHS IQ, NIHR, and Universities UK have been scoping the opportunity to;
- maximise the impact, evidence and learning from a wide range of fellows and fellowship programmes that exists across the health and care system;
- bring together a mobilised, diverse and expert community to further research practice and improvement for health and care (FellowsConnect)
"FellowsConnect" seeks to capture and build value from the phenomenal knowledge and large (circa 1,500) disconnected resource of UK wide Fellows, who have (alumni) or who are, participating in the diverse range of UK-funded fellowship schemes that exist. Uniquely, this community includes professionals in health, social care, academia, improvement, implementation, design, research, evaluation.
The proposal takes account of the emerging initiative from NHS England and The Health Foundation (THF) to support those leading safety and wider quality improvement across the United Kingdom (The 'Q' Initiative).
The proposal anticipates benefits on a number of levels:
The System: by creating an expert resource to solve "tricky" intractable problems nationally, regionally and locally
The Fellowship funders/ sponsors: by helping to develop the evidence base and capturing learning on optimising fellowship investment; how best to deploy and support this expert resource
The National investing bodies /programme providers; by building and mobilising the knowledge base for impact at individual, organisational, system and policy level; access to capacity, capability and thought leadership across a range of expertise
The individual "fellows": by helping them to maximise the benefit of their fellowship; build and sustain confidence, knowledge, contacts; support to use skills and discretionary effort for interesting and rewarding work.
