Helen Mthiyane is HSR UK's Executive Officer, based at the Nuffield Trust in London.
Prior to joining HSR UK in January 2020 Helen was the programme manager of the Alliance for Useful Evidence at Nesta, a network which aims to increase the smarter use of evidence in social policy and practice. She co-authored the report Bodies of Evidence: How professional organisations in health, education and policing champion the use of evidence, developed the Alliance's theory of change, and oversaw a programme of events and training for decision makers in charities, government and the public sector.
Before this, Helen worked in programme and project management at several charities including the Prince's Trust, the Ramblers and Khulisa, which delivers evidence-based therapeutic behaviour change programmes in schools, prisons and communities. Helen was the first employee of Khulisa (meaning 'to nurture' in Zulu) outside of South Africa, and helped to establish it in the UK.
